Abstract:
The present invention relates to the field of the production of phenol from cumene. It concerns a process for the preparation of cumene hydroperoxide, continuously, by oxidation of cumene in liquid phase, in the presence of oxygen. The process occording to the invention is carried out in the presence of at least one agent selected amongst hydroxide, carbonate of an alcaline and/or alcaline-earth metal; said agent is used in a quantity of 2 to 10 ppb (expressed in sodium hydroxide) with respect to the amount of cumene used. The invention also relates to the utilization of the hydroperoxide thus obtained for the preparation of phenol.
