Abstract:
A method for reducing the content of benzene in a gasoline base which enables hydrisomerization of benzene in a gasoline base without separating the same and is reduced in the content of degradation products having four or less carbon atoms. According to this method, the hydrisomerization of benzene or a benzene-containing hydrocarbon in the presence of a solid super acid catalyst enables benzene in a gasoline base to be efficiently converted to methylcyclopentane and, in addition, scarcely yields degradation products having four or less carbon atoms. Further, the benzene content can be reduced to 0.01 % or below.
