Abstract:
A highly efficient and industrially advantageous process for producing 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane (R240f) which comprises reacting carbon tetrachloride with vinyl chloride in the presence of a phosphoryl group-containing compound (phosphate ester, etc.) and an iron catalyst. The target product R240f is usable as a material for producing 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (HFC245fa) expected as a foaming agent, etc.
