Abstract:

A process for producing an ammonium salt of a perfluoro carboxylic acid, represented by RfCOONH4 (wherein Rf represents a perfluorohydrocarbon group), by the reaction of a perfluoro carboxylic acid, represented by RfCOOH (wherein Rf is as defined above), with ammonia by using a hydrocarbon as the solvent. Since the solvent used is of an ordinary type, it is inexpensive and makes the process industrially advantageous. Since this process enables the reaction to be carried out in a molten state, it is suitable for producing an ammonium salt of a long-chain perfluoro carboxylic acid.
