Abstract:

A process for producing a barrier packaging material, comprising the steps of providing a 20 to 45 μm thick biaxially oriented film, the biaxially oriented film comprising an EVOH layer having polyamide layers directly bonded to both major surfaces thereof, the polyamide layers at external surfaces laminated via adherent resin layers with polyethylene layers capable of heat adhesion; subjecting to corona discharge treatment not only surfaces to be joined of 5 to 15 μm thick PET films but also surfaces to be joined of the biaxially oriented film; and performing thermocompression bonding of the treated surfaces to be joined of the films by means of nip rolls to thereby obtain a thin layer multilayer barrier packaging material. In this process, the number of steps can be reduced, and each of the steps per se can be simplified. Further, the thickness can be reduced, and the number of adhesive layers can be reduced.
