Abstract:

A battery can is produced by subjecting a metallic plate to drawing to form a thickness-reduced molded product (10) in a closed end cylindrical form and cutting the molded product (10) in its part (11) near the open end of the molded product (10) in a direction vertical to the axis of the molded product (10). The molded product (10) is cutted by relatively moving, to the molded product (10), a second blade (30) provided along the outer periphery of the molded product (10) toward the axis of the molded product (10), in such a state that a first blade (31) has been abutted against the inner periphery of the molded product (10). The above constitution can prevent the occurrence of inward burrs (13) in a cut surface (12) of the molded product (10) in its direction vertical to the side face of the molded product (10) and in an inward direction and the entry of the burrs into the can.
