Title:
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING CAST ALUMINUM ALLOY MEMBER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/126085
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A process which comprises: a step in which an aluminum alloy melt having an alloy composition is obtained, the composition containing 0.2-0.35% Fe, 0.05-0.20% Cu, 0.3-0.6% Mn, 1.3-2.0% Mg, 4.6-5.1% Zn, and at least 0.1% Zr, the sum of Zr and Ti being up to 0.2%, and satisfying Mg%≥-0.5×Zn%+3.8 and Ti%/Zr%≥0.2, with the remainder being Al and incidental impurities; a step in which the aluminum alloy melt is continuously cast at a rate satisfying [maximum casting rate (mm/min)]≤[-1.43×(cast diameter (mm))+500], thereby obtaining an aluminum alloy cast having a structure that has a DAS of 40 µm or shorter and an average crystal grain diameter of 8 µm or smaller; and a step in which the aluminum alloy cast is subjected to a homogenization treatment in which the cast is held at a temperature of 450-600ºC for 1 hour or longer, thereby obtaining a cast aluminum alloy member. By this process, a cast aluminum alloy member free from anisotropy of plastic deformation is obtained.
