Title:
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING CELLULOSE DERIVATIVE WITH IMPROVED SOLUBILITY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/023513
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A process for producing a cellulose derivative which has improved solubility and which, when dissolved in water, leaves an extremely small amount of a suspending matter remaining undissolved. The process for cellulose derivative production comprises depolymerizing a cellulose derivative to such a degree that the viscosity at 20°C of a 2 mass% aqueous solution of the resultant cellulose derivative is lower by at least 10% than that before the depolymerization. Thus, the resultant cellulose derivative can give aqueous solutions in which the amount of a suspending undissolved matter having poor solubility is smaller than in aqueous solutions of the cellulose derivative before the depolymerization. The depolymerization is conducted preferably with an acid, alkali, or enzyme.
