Disclosed is a process for producing a dust core, the process comprising: preparing a mixed powder obtained by adding a lubricant powder for compacting to a soft-magnetic-iron-based powder coated with an inorganic insulating film comprising a phosphate compound; compacting the mixed powder to obtain a powder compact; and heat-treating the powder compact to relieve a strain from the powder compact. The lubricant powder for compacting comprises a fatty acid salt of at least one metal selected from a group consisting of barium, calcium, lithium, and magnesium. Thus, a dust core having magnetic permeability which is satisfactorily stable to frequency is provided.
