Abstract:

The present invention relates to a process for producing an electrophotographic toner which is excellent in terms of low-temperature fixability and high-temperature non-offset properties, the process being capable of inhibiting wax separation from the binder resin in the step of obtaining fusion-bonded particles during the toner production, and being capable of inhibiting the wax from being exposed on the toner particle surface and of reducing the dust content in the toner. The process for producing an electrophotographic toner comprises the following steps 1 to 3. Step 1: A step in which a wax, a resin emulsion in which the resin has an acid value of 10-300 mg-KOH/g, and a polymer having oxazoline groups are mixed and emulsified to obtain an aqueous dispersion of release agent particles; Step 2: A step in which the aqueous dispersion of release agent particles obtained in step 1 is mixed with an aqueous dispersion of resin particles that comprise a binder resin having carboxy groups, and the particles are agglomerated to obtain agglomerates; Step 3: A step in which the agglomerates obtained in step 2 are fusion-bonded to obtain fusion-bonded particles.
