Abstract:
A firing method is provided in which heating to a firing temperature can be attained in a short time period and a degreased ceramic can be prevented from cracking. The process for producing a fired ceramic comprises the step of molding and degreasing a raw ceramic material to produce a degreased ceramic and the step of firing the degreased ceramic in a continuous firing oven. The process is characterized in that the firing step includes: a preheating step in which the degreased ceramic is heated to a preheating temperature of 1,500-2,000ºC by resistance heating with a resistance heating mechanism; and a high-temperature firing step in which the degreased ceramic is heated from the preheating temperature to and held at a firing temperature of 2,000-2,300ºC by a combination of resistance heating with the resistance heating mechanism and direct ohmic heating in which a voltage is applied between lower and upper platens to thereby cause an electric current to flow through the degreased ceramic and heat the degreased ceramic.
