Abstract:
A process for producing fluoroethanes consisting mainly of 1,1,1,2-pentafluoroethane by fluorinating at least one member selected from the group consisting of tetrachloroethylene, 2,2-dichloro-1,1,1-trifluoroethane, and 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane with hydrogen fluoride with the aid of chromium oxyfluoride having a fluorine content of 30 wt.% or higher. The process can be carried out while minimizing the generation of CFC's.
