Abstract:
A process for producing a fluororesin-coated roller or belt is provided in which a thermally fusion-bonded fluororesin coating layer can be formed on a base directly or through a rubber layer through a heat treatment conducted for an extremely short time, and in which the fluororesin coating layer develops few defects and the underlying rubber layer is inhibited from thermally deteriorating.
The production process comprises: a step in which a base or a rubber-coated base obtained by forming at least a rubber layer on the peripheral surface of the base is inserted into the hollow of a heat-shrinkable fluororesin tube; a pre-shrinking step which is optional; a pressing/fusion-bonding step in which the base or the rubber-coated base is rotated while keeping the base or rubber-coated base in contact under pressure with a hot-plate surface heated to a temperature in the range of 250-400ºC, thereby thermally fusion-bonding the heat-shrinkable fluororesin tube to the peripheral surface of the base or rubber-coated base; and a reheating step and a rapidly cooling step which are optional.
