Abstract:
A process for producing a honeycomb structure in which even when a trouble occurs
in any of the operation steps of the process, the other operation steps can be carried
on as usual, thereby avoiding the disadvantage of having to waste intermediate
products due to the occurrence of the trouble. There is provided a process for
producing a honeycomb structure, including molding a ceramic raw material to
thereby obtain a columnar honeycomb molding wherein a multiplicity of cells
are disposed in parallel relationship with cell walls interposed therebetween
along the longitudinal direction thereof, subjecting the honeycomb molding
to one or more treatments inclusive of at least a sintering treatment to thereby
obtain a sintered honeycomb body and fabricating a honeycomb structure from
the sintered honeycomb body, characterized in that the treated honeycomb molding
having undergone the one or more treatments is disposed in a molding keeping container,
temporarily stored, demounted from the molding keeping container, and delivered
to the subsequent operation step.
