Abstract:
A process for producing a honeycomb structure having cell one-end portions credibly
sealed by a sealing material layer of desirable configuration. There is provided
a process for producing a honeycomb structure, including molding a ceramic raw
material into a columnar honeycomb molding having a multiplicity of cells arranged
in parallel relationship in longitudinal directions with a distance between
cell walls, filling chosen one-end portions of the cells with a sealing material
paste and firing the honeycomb molding to thereby obtain a honeycomb structure
of honeycomb firing product, characterized in that after the step of filling
chosen one-end portions of the cells of the honeycomb molding with a sealing material
paste, there is carried out the sealing material paste drying step of by the use
of a hot air dryer, blowing hot air toward the end face of the honeycomb molding
to thereby dry the sealing material paste.
