Abstract:
Provided is a process for economically producing from 2-hydroxybutyronitrile a 2-aminobutylamide inorganic acid salt which is useful as a starting material for medicines, etc.
2-Hydroxybutyronitrile is reacted with ammonia to obtain a liquid reaction mixture containing 2-aminobutyronitrile. The mixture is reacted in the presence of a strong inorganic base and a ketone solvent to yield a liquid reaction mixture containing a 2-aminobutylamide Schiff base as a major component. This liquid reaction mixture is brought into contact with a solution of an inorganic acid. Thus, a high-quality 2-aminobutylamide inorganic acid salt having an excellent color tone and an excellent purity is produced in high yield.
