Title:
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING OLEFIN POLYMER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/029094
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A process for producing an olefin polymer by the continuous slurry polymerization or continuous vapor-phase polymerization of an olefin using a metallocene catalyst. In the process, the catalyst is introduced into a polymerizer while the olefin and the monomer are being continuously fed to the polymerizer. Before the catalyst is used to (co)polymerize the olefin in the polymerizer, the catalyst is treated with hydrogen by contacting it with hydrogen. The process is advantageous in that olefin (co)polymerization can be stably conducted without generating a massive polymer. Thus, a polymer discharge pipe can be prevented from being clogged with massive polymers. Consequently, continuous olefin (co)polymer production is possible on a commercial scale.
