Title:
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING OPTICAL FILM AND PRODUCTION APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/063653
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This invention provides a process for producing an optical film which can be utilized
in protective films for polarizing plates for use, for example, in liquid crystal
display devices (LCDs). The process for producing an optical film does not cause
scratches, cockling and the like on the surface of an optical film upon the transfer
of a film by a specular surface roll, can cope with optical films with all widths,
can realize high-speed transfer, and can improve productivity. The process
for producing an optical film is characterized by comprising casting a resin
solution or a molten resin to form a film and, before transferring the film by a
freely rotatable transfer roll for drying, embossing both end parts in the widthwise
direction of the formed film to form emboss parts for film transfer, subsequently
transferring the film with the emboss part for transfer provided on both end parts
in the widthwise direction by a freely rotatable transfer roll and, after transfer,
cutting and removing the emboss parts for film transfer.
