Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a process for producing an optical film which comprises a cycloolefin resin, has a retardation suitable for VA-mode liquid-crystal display devices, and has excellent bondability with a UV adhesive in polarizer production and which, when produced, is wound into a roll with a stable shape. The process according to the present invention is a process for producing an optical film by a solution casting method, and is characterized by comprising a step in which a dope comprising a cycloolefin resin, a matting agent, and an organic solvent is prepared, a step in which the dope is cast on a support to form a web and the web is dried on the support and then separated from the support to obtain a film, and a step in which the separated film is stretched, the residual solvent content at the time of initiation of the stretching in the step for stretching the film being regulated to 1 mass% or higher but less than 15 mass%.
