Abstract:
A process for producing an optically active 6-formyl-1,4-benzodioxin-2-carboxylic acid derivative represented by the general formula (3): (wherein R3 is C1-6 alkyl), which comprises reacting a compound represented by the general formula (1a) or (1b): (wherein R1 is hydrogen or C1-6 alkyl or aralkyl; and R2's each independently is hydrogen or C1-6 alkyl or aralkyl) with an optically active amine represented by the general formula (2): (wherein R3 is C1-6 alkyl) in the presence of a protease and, when the compound (1b) was used, further conducting a treatment with an acid. By the process, an optically active 6-formyl-1,4-benzodioxin-2-carboxylic acid derivative, which is an intermediate for a 1,4-benzodioxin-2-carboxylic acid derivative useful as a preventive and therapeutic agent for diabetes, obesity, etc., can be efficiently produced.
