Abstract:

A process by which a perovskite-type composite oxide which is highly safe and hygienic can be industrially efficiently produced at a low heat treatment temperature. The perovskite-type composite oxide obtained can retain the catalytic activity of a noble metal on a high level over long. In the process, which is for producing a perovskite-type composite oxide, organic metal salts of all the elements to be the components of the perovskite-type composite oxide are mixed together to prepare a precursor for the perovskite-type composite oxide. Alternatively, organic metal salts of part of the elements to be the components of the perovskite-type composite oxide are mixed with the remaining element(s) each prepared in the form of, e.g., an alkoxide, coprecipitation salt, or citric acid complex to prepare a precursor for the perovskite-type composite oxide. Thereafter, the precursor is heated to produce the perovskite-type composite oxide.
