Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for producing phenol, which includes the steps of: reacting the benzene with bromine to obtain bromobenzene and HBr in the presence of catalyst; reacting HBr with oxide of metal MxO to obtain bromide of metal MxBr2 and water; reacting the bromobenzene with water and oxide of metal M’xO and/or hydroxide of metal M”x(OH)2 to obtain phenol and bromide of metal M’xBr2 and/or M”xBr2. The bromide of metal MxBr2, M’xBr2 and/or M”xBr2 can be reacting with oxygen to produce oxide of metal MxO, M’xO and/or hydroxide of metal M”x(OH)2 and Br2, the Br2 produced can be absorbed by benzene to recycle.
