Abstract:
Provided is a process whereby a polyacrylic acid (salt)-based water-absorbing resin having improved or intact material properties (in particular, liquid permeability) can be produced even on a large scale. The process for producing a polyacrylic acid (salt)-based water-absorbing resin comprises in the following order: a polymerization step in which an aqueous monomer solution containing acrylic acid (salt) as the main component is polymerized; a drying step in which the crosslinked polymer in a hydrous gel form obtained in the polymerization step is dried; and a classification step in which the polymer obtained in the drying step is classified. In the classification step, use is made of a shaking sifter in which the trajectory and the number of revolutions of the screen of the shaking sifter are within the following ranges. Radial inclination R: 5-40 mm Tangential inclination T: 0.1-25 mm Eccentric inclination E: 40-80 mm Number of revolutions F: 60-600 rpm
