Abstract:
A process for producing a polyester of stable quality, which process drastically reduces environmental load. In particular, a process for producing a polyester, comprising the steps of, with the use of a polycondensation reaction apparatus equipped with an ejector, a condenser disposed at a downstream part of the ejector and a hot well tank connected via a barometric leg with the condenser, driving the ejector with a vapor composed mainly of 1,4-butanediol component, condensing the vapor composed mainly of 1,4-butanediol having been discharged from the ejector by means of the condenser disposed at a downstream part of the ejector, and performing a polycondensation reaction thereof in a reactor of reduced pressure, characterized in that the concentration of tetrahydrofuran contained in the solution sealed in at least one hot well tank is 4 wt.% or less.
