Abstract:

A polyimide film is produced by adding a dehydrating reagent to a polyamic acid solution; subsequently casting the obtained solution over a support to thereby obtain a film; introducing the film together with the support in a reaction congelation vessel equipped with means for preventing leakage of air from inside the vessel to outside the vessel, and heating them in an atmosphere of 1 to 2000 ppm water content to thereby obtain a gel film having at least portion of the polyamic acid converted to polyimide or polyisoimide; separating the obtained gel film from the support, optionally followed by washing; performing simultaneous biaxial orientation or sequential biaxial orientation to thereby obtain a biaxially oriented film, optionally followed by washing so as to remove solvents; and performing heat treatment thereof, thereby forming a biaxially oriented polyimide film.
