Abstract:
A regenerated tobacco material is produced through extracting of natural tobacco material with an extractant solvent to thereby obtain an extract solution containing components of the natural tobacco material and an extraction residual. Regeneration tobacco web is prepared from the extraction residual. On the other hand, the extract solution is subjected to fractionation using ultrafiltration or reverse osmosis filtration, or fractionation using reverse phase partition chromatography so as to obtain a first fraction wherein desired components are enriched while undesired components are impoverished and a second fraction wherein desired components are impoverished while undesired components are enriched. An arbitrary amount of first fraction together with a reduced amount of second fraction is added to the regeneration tobacco web, thereby obtaining a regenerated tobacco material.
