Title:
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SINTERED EARTH MAGNET
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1997/001855
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A process for producing a sintered rare earth magnet, by which a granular material necessary for producing a sintered rare earth magnet excellent in magnetic characteristics can easily be produced, the reaction of a powdered rare earth alloy with a binder can be inhibited, the contents of residual oxygen and residual carbon in the sintered rare earth alloy can be reduced, and the flowability and lubricating properties of the granular material in molding can be improved to thereby enhance the dimensional accuracy of products of molding and productivity, thus giving a magnet of a sinter of a rare earth alloy (such as R-Fe-B or R-Co) having a thin-walled or complicated shape and being excellent in magnetic characteristics. This process comprises adding a binder to a powdered rare earth alloy, kneading the obtained mixture to form a slurry, spray-drying the slurry to form a granular material, and conducting the molding and sintering of the granular material by powder metallurgy to form a sintered rare earth magnet.
