Abstract:
A process for sintered-ore production in which a gas fuel is supplied to the downstream side of an ignition furnace of a sintering apparatus to produce sintered ore from a raw material to be sintered which has a carbon-material content optimized in relation to the gas fuel. High-quality sintered ore having high strength is thereby produced stably, and CO2 generation can be reduced. The process for sintered-ore production comprises: a charging step in which a raw material to be sintered comprising fine ore and a carbon material is placed on a pallet; an ignition step in which the carbon material in the surface of the resultant raw-material layer is ignited; a gas-fuel supply step in which a gas fuel is supplied to over the raw-material layer; and a sintering step in which the diluted gas fuel and air are sucked, with a wind box disposed under the pallet, into the raw-material layer to burn the carbon material contained in the raw-material layer and burn the diluted gas fuel in the raw-material layer in which the carbon material has burned, thereby sintering the ore. In the process, the amount of the carbon material contained in the raw material to be sintered has been made smaller than in the case where a gas fuel is not supplied. Preferably, the amount of the carbon material therein has been reduced by at least a quantity equivalent to the heat of combustion of the gas fuel to be supplied in the gas-fuel supply step.
