Abstract:
A process for producing a solid fuel in which foul odor emission is minimized in
the stage of solid fuel production and in which the operating procedure can be
simplified; and a solid fuel produced by the process. There is provided a process
for producing a solid fuel through drying of sewage sludge or animal feces, characterized
by including the lump forming step of forming sewage sludge or animal feces into
lumps of given size; the surface shaping step of rendering the density of the surface
of the lumps formed in the lump forming step higher than that of the interior thereof;
and the shell forming step of performing heat treatment of the lumps with the shaped
surface to thereby form shells at the surface of the lumps.
