Abstract:
A process for producing a styrenic resin by granulating a syndiotactic polystyrene (SPS) powder with the use of an extruder, wherein the devolatilization and granulation of the powder are conducted in the presence of water, an alcohol or an antioxidant to obtain pellets. The devolatilization and granulation of the SPS powder conducted in the presence of water, an alcohol or an antioxidant can give SPS pellets inhibited from yellowing, while those conducted in the presence of water can stably and efficiently give SPS pellets reduced in the content of residual volatiles such as unreacted monomers.
