A phosphazenium compound represented by the formula (1) (1) (wherein Q?-¿ is an anion formed by removing a proton from an inorganic acid or from an active-hydrogen compound having an active hydrogen atom on an oxygen, nitrogen, or sulfur atom; a, b, c, and d each is 1 or 0, provided that not all of them are 0; and R's may be the same or different and each independently represents a C¿1-10? hydrocarbon group or the two R's present on the same nitrogen atom may be bonded to each other to form a ring in cooperation with the nitrogen atom) is reacted with an aromatic halogenated compound having one or more halogen atoms to replace at least one halogen atom of the aromatic halogenated compound with Q (which is the inorganic or organic group formed by removing one electron from Q?-¿ shown in the formula (1)). Thus, a Q-substituted aromatic compound is obtained.
