Title:
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SUPERCONDUCTIVE CERAMIC SINTER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1989/002880
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A process for producing superconductive ceramic sinter according to the invention comprises compounding a first powder of oxide(s) containing rare earth metal element(s), a second powder of oxide(s) or carbonate(s) of alkaline earth metal element(s), a third powder of copper oxide, and a fourth powder of metal fluoride in predetermined proportions, baking the resulting mixed powder to produce superconductive ceramic, molding a powder of said ceramic, and sintering the molding. The presence of the metal fluoride in said sinter in a predetermined amount serves to improve the toughness and density of the superconductive ceramic and facilitate the working of the ceramic.
