Abstract:
A process for the production of asymmetric alkyl compounds which is characterized by comprising the step of mixing a reaction solution containing a glycine imine ester, an alkyl halide, and an asymmetric catalyst having an ability to make asymmetric synthesis proceed with an alkali-treated solid carrier obtained by treating a solid carrier made of an inorganic compound with an alkaline substance to thereby conduct an asymmetric synthesis reaction. On allowing the obtained mixture to stand at room temperature, the asymmetric alkylation between the glycine imine ester and the alkyl halide catalyzed by the asymmetric catalyst is accomplished on the alkali-treated solid carrier in about one hour to give an asymmetric alkyl compound having a high optical purity in a high yield. Thus, the process can dispense with the stirring of a solvent and enables efficient and stable accomplishment of asymmetric alkylation in a short time and high-yield synthesis of an asymmetric alkyl compound having a high optical purity.
