Abstract:
A process for the production of an azo pigment or a salt or hydrate thereof, comprising a step (a) of mixing a diazotizing agent with an amino compound, a step (b) of reacting the reaction product obtained in the step (a) with a coupling component by mixing both to form a solution in which at least part of the azo compound formed by the reaction is completely dissolved, the azo compound being represented by general formula (1), and a step (c) of mixing the solution obtained in the step (b) with a poor solvent for the azo compound to crystallize the azo compound (pigment). In general formula (1), G is a heterocyclic group; R, X, Y, Z and Q are each independently a hydrogen atom or a substituent; n is an integer of 1 to 4; when n is 2, the compound of general formula (1) is a dimer formed via R, X, Y, Z, Q or G; when n is 3, the compound of general formula (1) is a trimer formed via R, X, Y, Z, Q or G; and when n is 4, the compound of general formula (1) is a tetramer formed via R, X, Y, Z, Q or G.
