Abstract:
A process for the production of a cast slab of low-carbon steel which comprises the step of preparing a molten steel for a cast slab of low-carbon steel and the step of pouring the molten steel into a mold through a tundish, wherein La and/or Ce are further added to the molten steel in the tundish in a total amount of 0.2 to 1.2 times the increase by mass of oxygen in the molten steel in the tundish to form a cast slab containing inclusions which each comprise oxide of Ti and oxides of La and/or Ce as the main components and which each have a composition having a (La2O3 + Ce2O3)/TiOn mass ratio of 0.1 to 0.7 (wherein n is 1 to 2).
