Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for producing a colloidal gold having an intended particle size, a sharp particle size distribution, and a uniform, perfectly spherical shape. Specifically, disclosed is a process for producing a colloidal gold, comprising: a nucleation step for adding a first reducing agent to a solution of a first gold salt to form a nuclear colloid particle; and a growth step for adding a second gold salt and a second reducing agent to the resulting nuclear colloid particle solution to grow the nuclear colloid, wherein the growth step is conducted at least once, a citrate salt is used as the first reducing agent, an ascorbate salt is used as the second reducing agent, and the addition of the ascorbate salt in the growth step is conducted simultaneously with the addition of the second gold salt. The process enables to produce a colloidal gold having a sharp particle size distribution and a uniform, perfectly spherical shape.
