Abstract:
The invention provides a process for the production of emulsion coating material,
an emulsion coating material produced by the process; and films made from the
coating material. The invention relates to a process for the production of an
emulsion coating material containing both photocatalyst composite particles
and a resin component which comprises using an aqueous dispersion /solution
which contains titanium oxide in a dispersed state and phosphate ions and calcium
ions in a dissolved state and which has a pH of 4.0 or below, adjusting the pH of the
dispersion/solution to 5.0 to 11.0 to reprecipitate calcium phosphate on the
surface of titanium oxide and thus form photocatalyst composite particles,
and incorporating the composite particles into a coating material as the photocatalyst
component; an emulsion coating material obtained by the process; and films made
from the coating material. Thus, the invention enables the production of photocatalyst
composite particles with enhanced productivity and provides coating materials
containing the particles and emulsion coating materials capable of giving films
improved in the photodecomposition function against organic substances and
in weather resistance.
