Abstract:
Provided is a process for the production of a conjugated diene rubber usable as a raw material for a crosslinked rubber which is useful for tire treads or other applications and can ensure enhanced fuel efficiency. A process for the production of a modified conjugated diene rubber, which comprises: a step (a) of reacting a conjugated diene polymer that is obtained by polymerizing a conjugated diene compound either alone or together with an aromatic vinyl compound and that has an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal active terminal with a hydrocarbyloxysilane compound that contains in the molecule both at least one functional group (I) and at least one functional group (II) to form a modified conjugated diene polymer that has the functional group (II), said functional group (I) being a hydrocarbyloxysilyl group and said functional group (II) being a tertiary amino group, an imino group, a pyridyl group, a nitrogen-containing group derived from a secondary amine wherein one hydrogen atom is replaced by one protective group, or the like; and a step (b) of mixing the modified conjugated diene polymer obtained in the step (a) with an onium-forming agent.
