Abstract:
A process which comprises reacting an N-acyl-β- phenylalanine derivative with a specific reagent for optical resolution to form diastereomeric salts, subjecting the diastereomeric salts to optical resolution, removing the reagent from each of the resolved diastereomeric salts to obtain an optically active N-acyl-β-phenylalanine derivative, and deacylating this derivative into an optically active β-phenylalanine derivative. According to the process, optically active N-acyl-β-phenylalanine derivatives and optically active β-phenylalanine derivatives can be produced with industrial advantage.
