Abstract:
Provided is a process for the production of phenol by reacting monochlorobenzene with water in a liquid or supercritical phase, by which phenol can be obtained in a high yield without generating a large amount of by-products. A process for the production of phenol, which comprises reacting monochlorobenzene with water in a liquid or supercritical phase in the presence of zeolite H-ZSM-5.
