Abstract:
A process for producing recycled polycarbonate (PC) as raw material for flame-retardant resin compositions from waste and/or recovered optical discs whose substrates are made of PC resin which comprises the step (a) of judging whether the PC resin which the substrate of a waste or recovered optical disc is made of is one prepared by using only 2,2-bis(4–hydroxyl- phenyl)propane as the raw material dihydric phenol or not and the step (b) of collecting waste and/or recovered optical discs wherein the PC resins of the substrates are judged to be ones prepared by using only 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane as the raw material dihydric phenol and removing impurities from the discs by chemical treatment. According to the process, used optical discs or optical discs rejected in the production step thereof which contain PC resin substrates can be treated at a low cost with a small environmental load and recycled as raw material for PC-base flame retardant resin compositions.
