Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for producing an (S)-1-substituted propan-1-ol derivative which is a compound useful as an intermediate for the production of pharmaceutical agents, particularly (S)-3-chloro-1-(2-thienyl)propan-1-ol, effectively and on an industrial scale.
An (S)-1-substituted propan-1-ol derivative can be produced by reacting a 1-substituted propan-1-one derivative with a specific polypeptide, an organism capable of producing the polypeptide or a treatment product of the organism to reduce the 1-substituted propan-1-one derivative.
