Abstract:
A process for the purification of terephthalic acid which uses two-stage rotary pressure filter. Each of the stage is divided into three functional regions, which are hydraulic filtration region, pneumatic filtration region and discharge region. The process comprises the following steps: (A) filtering a slurry containing crystallized terephthalic acid in the first stage of the filter; (B) reslurrying the first filter Gake from step (A); (C) filtering the slurry from step (B) in the second stage of the filter; and (D) drying the second filter cake from step (C) and obtaining the product terephthalic acid with a purity up to higher than 99.98%.
