Abstract:
A process for synthesizing a lactam in water at a high temperature under a high pressure; and a process for producing a lactam. Namely, a process for synthesizing a lactam characterized by reacting an amino acid in water at a high temperature under a high pressure, wherein the lactam is synthesized at a high rate by cyclizing the amino acid in water at a high temperature of 200°C or more under a high pressure of 10 Mpa or more; and a process for producing a lactam characterized by synthesizing the lactam by reacting an amino acid in water at a high temperature under a high pressure and then separating and purifying the lactam with the use of a column separating agent.
