Abstract:
In the present invention, by controlling the irradiation position of light and the intensity distribution of light, a temperature gradient can be made more gradual, and the strength of a processing object can be improved while preventing damage during melt processing. A processing device (100) improves the strength of a plate-shaped processing object (3) by irradiating the surface of the processing object (3) with light, wherein the processing device includes the following: a light source (11) that emits light to the processing object (3); a light guide unit (12) that guides the light emitted from the light source (11) and irradiates an irradiation position which is only a prescribed distance inward from the end surface of the processing object (3); and an irradiation position moving unit (13) that moves the processing object (3) in a direction which is perpendicular relative to the radiation direction of the light radiated from the light guide part (12). The processing device is characterized in that the light guide unit (12) includes an intensity transformation unit (14) that transforms the intensity distribution of the light emitted from the light source (11) to make the temperature gradient from the irradiation position of the processing object (3) to the end-surface side smaller than the temperature gradient inward from the irradiation position.
