Abstract:
This invention relates to a method for producing an alloy excellent in both anticorrosive and antiwearing properties by heat treating a mixture of a powder of at least one matrix metal selected from the group consisting of iron-base, cobalt-base and nickel-base alloys with a powder of vanadium carbide, comprising repeating melting and remelting with a heat source having a high energy density to thereby cause recrystallization and/or redeposition of homogeneous and fine vanadium carbide particle phases in the matrix metal phase.
