Abstract:
The present invention provides a production method which has a high selectivity to HCFC-132 and in which handling is easier than in conventional methods because neither chlorine nor highly toxic carbon tetrachloride is used. Specifically, the present invention provides an HCFC-132 production method characterized by comprising a step in which a halogenated ethane represented by the general formula CFClX-CFClX (1) (wherein the X moieties are each independently Cl, Br, I, or H and at least either of the X moieties is Cl, Br, or I) is reduced in the presence of a reducing agent to yield 1,2-dichloro-1,2-difluoroethane (HCFC-132).
