Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a copolymer production method for an aromatic vinyl-diene copolymer having a low glass transition temperature; and a production method for a rubber composition using the production method. The production method according to the present invention is for an aromatic vinyl-diene copolymer in which the contained amount of an aromatic vinyl-derived repeating unit is 18 mass% or more, and of diene-derived repeating units, the proportion of a vinyl structure is 8 mol% or less, the proportion of a 1,4-trans structure is 60 mol% or less, and the proportion of a 1,4-cis structure is 40-95 mol%, wherein the aromatic vinyl-diene copolymer is produced by copolymerization of monomers including aromatic vinyl monomers and diene monomers using an initiator formulated using at least one polar compound selected from the group consisting of organic lithium compounds, aluminum alkyls, metal alcoholates, water, and alcohols.
