Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a production method for cellulose acetate, said method eliminating the need for performing a cleaning process using an organic solvent and reducing the environmental impact. The production method for cellulose acetate involves a step for hydrolyzing cellulose acetate and reducing the total degree of acetyl substitution by bringing a cellulose acetate mixture or solution into contact with a strong acid cation exchange resin, and a step for precipitating the cellulose acetate in which the total degree of acetyl substitution has been reduced by means of the hydrolysis.
