Abstract:
Provided is a production method for glass panel units, whereby energy consumption during production can be suppressed and reduction in the degree of vacuum can be effectively suppressed. A first substrate (10) and a second substrate (20) are bonded via a sealing material (410) heated at a first temperature no more than 407°C. As a result, an internal space (510) is formed between the first substrate (10) and the second substrate (20). The internal space (510) has arranged therein a gas adsorbent (44) including a non-metallic getter material. In an activation step, the gas adsorbent (44) is locally heated so as to reach a second temperature higher than the first temperature.
